The Buddhist Society coordinates year round 'Bodhi Pooja' by classroom basis. A meditation program is conducted every Friday with the guidance of a priest. A dhamma sermon by a renowned priest is arranged on every poya day. Another major task undertaken by this society is to organize the annual pirith cermony followed by an alms giving in memory of Mrs. Jeremias Dias, our Founder.
Along with the Teachers' Guild, a 'Muluthan Pooja' is offered to the sacred tooth relic in the Dalada Maligawa every year. Annual Vesak lantern competition, Sil program, and Poson Bhakthi Gee program are also organized.
In 2000, the society undertook many projects to meet the needs of soldiers who are fighting for peace in the country. Buddhist Society was also able to donate money to Maha Bodhi Society, All Island Buddhist Student Congress, Gangarama perahara, Savath Nuwara Katina Pinkama organized by the Shanthi Foundation, and offering of roses to the Ananda Bodhi in India.
